FAQs
How often should windows be cleaned?
The IWCA recommends at least twice a year at minimum to prevent mineral buildup and to keep your windows in good condition. Cleaning more often allows your windows to look nicer, and the more they are cleaned the less of a chance buildup can occur.
What is the difference between Premium washing and Regular washing?
Included in the premium washing is a protectant for your windows which allows for a longer period of time to pass in between windows without becoming dirty. Even with protectant however, it is still recommended to have a cleaning every 6 months.
Why should I have my windows cleaned?
Over time as hard water and salt sit on the window, the minerals in these different compounds start to chemically bond with the glass, meaning permanent “fogginess”. By having your windows cleaned regularly, there will be no chance that the minerals will have time to eat into the glass and everything can remain crystal clear.
How do I know if I need mineral removal?
Leave it to us! When we give you your free estimate, we will let you know if there is any mineral build up and just how much of it there is. If there is mineral build up we highly recommend taking action to remove it. Once you can see build up clearly, that is a sign that your windows could be starting to bond with the minerals and become permanently foggy.
What does mineral removal involve?
When doing mineral removal, we take special care to scrape, and scrub off all of the solidified minerals off of your glass while not leaving any scratches or residue behind. To do this, we may use a variety of tools depending on how much build up is on the window. As the minerals are removed from the glass, the small pores of the window become exposed. This is why protectant for your windows is applied right after all minerals have been removed to ensure everything is sealed.
